Sorry to hear that gittygirl, its always terrible to go through that with a pet.
You should post your story when you are done, I'm sure everyone would love to read it...

Ok its a little scratchy but here it goes;

         One day at the Kootenai County Humane Society, a puppy was brought in. Ms. Linda Lee told the owners, Mr. Crony and Mrs. Crony, that there wasn’t enough room for the puppy and that they’ll just have to wait until there is enough space.  Two weeks later the Humane Society called and told them that they can bring the puppy in. Mr. Crony said thank you and hung up. After 10 minutes, they were there. Ms. Linda Lee said, “Bring the puppy on back, and we will handle it from there.”  So Mrs. Crony said good bye and then the Crony’s left. They never returned. Meanwhile, the puppy had turned 5 years old and was in a kennel with another dog. These dogs were both Beagle Basset mixes. Years went bye and not a single person wanted him. The other dog was bought a month after being brought in.  Christmas came soon and families ran in and out buying this and that. All the other dogs had been adopted to become Christmas puppies. He was still there.  He was the last dog they had before they closed for Christmas. He was so sad. The next day a family with two kids and a baby came in, and saw that he was the only one left. They had said no, turned around and went home. Years went by and he got sick of the same process over and over.  New dogs coming in and getting bought within a few days. Another two years went by and not a single person wanted him. Ms. Linda Lee was now retired and a new younger girl worked for her. Her name was Natalie but everyone called her Nat. She took him on walks and fed him when nobody wanted him. One day the owner said they will have to put him down sooner or later. Nat didn’t like this idea and said," I will take care of him," even though she knew she wasn’t allowed to have dogs in her apartment. Then one starry night a family had a Beagle Basset that had to be put down. They came here on Christmas to find a Christmas puppy but there were no puppies for sale at the time.  So they looked and looked and finally they found him. They said,” He is the perfect dog for our family!”  They named the dog Boomer and soon left to bring him home and love him forever. He was so happy that Santa finally sent him his wish that he had always wanted.

Sounds lovely Gittygirl, you should make an illustration in the freehand colouring book to post with it :)
