When I went to your art site, I saw your 3D Gorgon model.
What program did you use?
Autosoft Maya or something?

I do most of my hard body and base mesh 3d work in softimage XSI. I have used blender and Maya as well, but I don't like them as much. For the fine sculpting, I use either mudbox or z-brush.

Those are the main programs I used at school ;)

Softimage, huh?
Never heard of it.
But if somebody I trust says it's better than a $4000
program and Blender, i'm trying it.

Thanks, Em!

lol, softimage is another hugely expensive program (well its not expensive for big companies I guess, lol). The company that bought softimage xsi, owns maya. They may have changed its name, i'm running an old version.

Blender though, is free which is why I use it when I can ;)
(The other stuff I have access to as a student, they are all expensive, lol.)

Ya, it killed me when I first tried it. It took me like a month to build a castle. LOL. But now that I know more, its much easier.

There is actually a free (for non comercial use) version of softimage for game modders. It doesn't have quite the same features, but you could give that a shot if you wanted. Its at http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/pc/item?siteID=123112&id=13571257

Sorry I didn't mention it sooner, I forgot about it...
