Ooh....cool! i think ill do a soort of Day of the Dead thing, cuz thats kinda likea Rememberance Day in Spain..I think...

This is a quote from Wikipedia:

Remembrance Day – also known as Poppy Day or Armistice Day (the event it commemorates) or Veterans Day – is a Commonwealth holiday (observed in all Commonwealth countries except Mozambique) to commemorate the sacrifices of members of the armed forces and of civilians in times of war, specifically since the First World War. It is observed on 11 November to recall the end of World War I on that date in 1918 (major hostilities of World War I were formally ended "at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month" of 1918 with the German signing of the Armistice).

The name of it varies, and is only observed in some countries. Even the symbols used change quite a bit. The poppy is a common symbol for it, but the shape of the poppies changes from place to place. The ones I put in the example are the ones they make in Canada. Some places focus on the sacrifices of the soldiers, others tend to look more at the peace afterward.

I decided to do this contest mostly because quite a few people seem to do pictures for it on Nov. 11. I am trying to do a small pack as well (since it is a bit of a pain to make poppies and things). I will do my best to get that out in time

Day Of The Dead is in Mexico.They go to graves and visit the departed loved ones,while they have parties,or fiesta's,where skeletons dance around.They also eat sugar skulls,witch is basically all suger made into a skull and to top it off the charts for sugar insanity,they add frosting.XD

Can we do Dia de los Muertos?(Day of the Dead in spanish).I an mexican(nearly half) and know alot.Too bad it's over now.Would have been a good time to remember and pray for my dog,Daphne,and cat,Maize so they're safe in heaven.

We will try to slowly add packs and contests for as many different holidays from around the world as we can. Though the next ones I do will probably be Thanksgiving, Remembrance Day, Christmas, (and if we are lucky and I have time, I will also do Lunar New Year and Mardi Gras).

In the US we have the poppies too.When my mom is driving me to school,they have The Knights of Colombus hand out.(Group of people who do kind things.)

lol, so I am still behind on pictures because I spent last night putting up the Remembrance Day pack. Even if you don't plan to do a contest image, you may want to check it out. It has doves, poppies, wreaths, olive branches, a globe, a piece sign, etc...

The contest started a little late, but it will probably go into voting this weekend. There are more entries, but I'm pretty behind on image approval. (Sorry bout that, but I probably won't be caught up for a bit... I'm trying to get the thanksgiving pack done for you guys. )
