hope is the thing with feathers,
that perches in the soul,
ans sings the tune
withought the words
and never stops at all.

the sweetest in the glade is heard
a sore must be the storm
that could abash the little bird
that kept so many warm

even in the strangest land
and on the strangest sea
but never in extremity
it asked a crumb of me!

if I was a little bird
I'd fly up relay high
I'd soar above the chimney-tops
and up into the sky

but as im not a little bird
as you can plainly see
I'll make the most of whatI am
and be happy being me!
